As a mechanical engineering student with a deep passion for building and product development, I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges of sourcing quality components for personal and academic projects. While industry-standard suppliers like McMaster-Carr offer an unparalleled selection of professional-grade parts, their pricing often caters to large-scale operations with large budgets making them less accessible for students, hobbyists, and independent makers. Paying $10 for a single screw is not practical for a hobbyist.
On the other end of the spectrum, platforms like Amazon provide affordability and convenience but many products are frequently bundled in oversized assortments, and quality can be inconsistent. For builders who know exactly what they need—and how many—this model leads to unnecessary surplus and increased costs.
That’s why I set out to create a better solution: a platform that combines the precision and reliability of industrial suppliers with the accessibility and pricing flexibility of consumer marketplaces. Our mission is to empower makers at every level by offering high-quality components in the exact quantities they need—whether it’s one bolt or a dozen—at fair, transparent prices. "Proof of Concept"—the name resonates with me because it's a familiar term in engineering. It marks that pivotal moment in the development process when an idea begins to take shape, and you're ready to dive into the finer details. My goal is to empower people to start building—without being held back by costs or the burden of sourcing and storing extra materials. I want to create a space where anyone, regardless of background, can bring their ideas to life and reach that crucial Proof of Concept stage with confidence and support.
